Obstacles to Manifestation – The Power of the Unconscious

Have you ever found yourself saying one thing and doing another?

Do you believe your conscious and unconscious are separate entities or interdependent?

Why does positive thinking not work like many say it will? “Just do it” they say and you will be able to attract and manifest what you desire. Why does it not always work for you?

The conscious and the unconscious mind is often likened to an iceberg with 10 percent above the water equating the conscious and 90 percent, the unconscious mind, under the water and out of sight.

Obstacles to Manifestation – What Do You Really Want? - April 8, 2011

”I always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific!” – Lilly Tomlin
It is difficult if not impossible to have a full meaningful life if we do not know what we really, really want. We may present ourselves as knowing, however often it is a glib statement voiced without reflection. “I want this”, “I wish I could do that” and “As soon as this is over I will do…(fill in the blanks)”. Underneath such vagueness is the fact that many people have not examined their dreams and desires in order to know what they truly desire.

Obstacles to Manifestation: Fear of Change

Since change is the only constant in our lives, why is it so frightening to choose to change? Often it is thrust upon us and we didn’t see it coming. It may come in a way that cuts us off at the knees, such as having life, as we know it obliterated, like a tornado or hurricane. Somehow when such happens, time and time again we observe people having the courage and determination to reach down into their reservoir of resilience to deal with catastrophe. Where did all their courage, fearlessness, faith, determination come from, we ask ourselves. How were they able to do it?

Procrastination - The Fear of Success?

No way; you say not me!! Oh yes, yes, I say many of us at a deep level are afraid of success. Our core beliefs will express in our lives regardless of what we say. If we go after success and freedom according to our visions, dreams desires it implies full responsibilityfor the outcome. We may not have the support of our families or community behind us, and we are very loyal to the expectations and teachings of such systems.  Many of us are secretly terrified of being responsible and being free of the familiar.

Favourite Lyrics by Leonard Cohen from Anthem 1992

Ring the bells that still can ring,
Forget your favourite offering,
There is a crack in everything,
Thats how the light gets in.

Another Limb on the Pocrastination Tree

Most of us have not had respectful,positive,co-operative parenting. Early in life we are as sponges, soakingup, taking in everything from authoritarian parents, churches, and educational systems. The rules of such systems require that we accept what they pass down as if it were our truth. Our natural curiousity, creativity and freedom to question eveyrthing is suppressed to get by.

THE PROCRASTINATION TREE LIMBS (cont.)

I'll stay for now with the "fear of failure". Of all the underpinnings of procrastination that have us by the scruff of the neck, this limb is particularly potent. From where I sit, one of the main reasons we do not embrace our failures as learning opportunities is that we have an illusion that we should not have such things happen to us.In other words we do not accept the reality that just as there will joy in our lives, there will be sorrow and failure.

More about" procastination",----later:

This morning on my walk,I saw 3 deer, a fox,and a large turtle. How exciting is that all in the space of an hour. It got me to thinking about the traits of animals that resonate with our own.  The slow plodding of the turtle I totally get as I am more turtle than deer when it's time to make changes in my life. I pray to be more like the deer, who may tremble in the headlights , but do not proscratinate when it's time to take action, and cross the road. Now the fox I have seen before at twilight darting into the shadows.
